BOLD Decisions
Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 9:12AM On our 9 acres we have an abundance of deer. Bucks, does and this time of year, the sweet little fawns. The does will often be alone with their newborn, it’s almost as they’re saying, "Hey, give me a little alone time, will you?"
Most of our deer are curious observers except one...Delta.
Okay, we named her.
Actually, my 5 year old daughter, Grace looked at her one day across the pool fence and said, "Let’s call her Delta."
Here’s the interesting thing about our Delta. She seems to be a young mother. We see her milk bag and she doesn’t have any scars or nicked ears. Delta’s coat is in great shape and she just has the look of youth about her.
We couldn’t help notice her after she kept coming up and watching us swim or have lunch out by our pool. She would be alone peeking through the fence.
That’s when we started feeding her apples and carrots. I know it sounds corny, but when Delta looks at you with her doe brown eyes, you're entranced.

You know, once you name them, they become pet-like.
I know, I know....wild animal and all.
So, Delta gets her snacks everyday. She comes right before dusk every evening.
But lately, she has started bringing a friend. We haven't named her yet. Mostly because she won't even get close to us. Can't blame her, right? But here's the thing...she sees Delta munching down carrots and pink lady apples right beside her, yet she won't step close enough to get her own carrot. We know it might be a little stressful for "No Name" deer to get her own carrot, so we put it near her but she still have to move to it.
Now, here's insight. She won't eat it. She looks at it. You can tell she wants it. Yet, nothing. Zip. Zilch.
You may say, Tammi...Mmmm interesting deer story, but here's what I want you to take away today.
So, often we are getting what we ask for...and we'll turn and look away.
We find the perfect vacation then talk ourselves out of it. We finally find in the mall, the exact watch that you've wanted for forever, then walk out of the store, telling yourself that you don't really need it.
I see it with people that are eager for a home business ready to get home to their kids, excited that they have found a real opportunity then get scared because of what friends or family might think about them doing something different.
Don't live your life as the No Name deer.
For you to create the life you want, it takes BOLD decisions.
It will take making different decisions then you've made in the past. Or else you would've already created the life that you want.
Nike had it right all along, "Just do it."
No excuses, no more of I'll wait until I have more money, more time or better health.
Delta the deer is rewarded because she is willing to go for the carrot everyday.
She's not worrying about the other deer. She's not wondering what that deer thinks. She is living her life to the fullest and she wants the carrot.
Be BOLD in your decisions today my friends!
Opportunity Today: Make at least one BOLD decision today. (Not tomorrow, next week, a month from now...today!)
I'll look forward to hearing your results.
Attracting Greatness,
Tammi Putnam
