Follow Your Own True North
Like the rest of the world, I've been thinking Michael Jackson so much these last few days.
I'm an 80's girl. I love 80's music and the album Thriller was HUGE in my high school years. Okay, I confess I didn't have the red "Beat It" jacket, but I did have a jean jacket with the double zippers. Way cool. (Luckily, there's no pictures of me in the jacket.)
You know, like most people when I heard about Michael Jackson in the last 10 years or so, it was usually associated with some strange story...stories I didn't necessarily even want to hear. So, I turned a blind eye to what Michael Jackson had become.
It wasn't until his death that I really started thinking of him as a real flesh and blood person, not some symbol of weirdness. I look at those incredible 80's videos like "Billie Jean" or "Beat It" and think look how dynamic and beautiful Michael Jackson was.
So, my question that I could not shake was...
Where did it go wrong?
Too pushy of a father,
too much pressure,
too much money,
too many "yes" people around him,
too little connection to reality,
too little non-celebrity time,
too many prescriptions,
too much guilt or
too little of connection to self?
I don't know the answers.
I always am looking for the lesson. What are we to learn from this?
Follow your own true north. Always trust your gut.
Listen to your instincts and intuition.
Act on the internal nudge.
Put people in your corner that are "for" you and not sabatoging you.
Connect to God, Source, Higher Self, The Universe.
You are part of a much bigger plan.
Spend your time with the people you love the most.
Acknowledge the greatness in others.
Say the three most beautiful words, "I love you," to the people you love.
Honor your passion, be guided by it.
..........................................
Add to my list! What else have we learned?
I'll look forward to hearing what you have to say!
Tammi
